Job Description: |
Our client is a thirty-four year old global commodities marketing and distribution firm, focused in the petrochemicals and polymers industry, based out of Houston, Texas. Annual revenues are in excess of 4.5 billion dollars. The company operates 27 additional offices in 16 countries. The company pursues both the development of long-term relationships with suppliers and customers, and spot buying and selling opportunities to optimize profits. In addition, it performs marketing, sales, logistics and risk management functions and can offer selective trade finance services.
The position of Global Sales Manager, PVC will be based in Houston, Texas, the company’s global head office. This position reports to the Business Director.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
•Pursue selling opportunities for Polyvinylchloride (PVC) globally, with support from global marketing staff
•Take the lead in making strategic and tactical commercial decisions
•Monitor continuous market intelligence in global markets on supply/demand market conditions regarding volumes, prices, competition, dynamics, etc.
•Bring existing supplier and customer relationships and add new ones
•Pursue new business development opportunities resulting in significant customer base expansion

Candidate Requirements: |
Traits and Characteristics:
•Substantial hands-on experience in international dealings with a corresponding temperament to thrive in a multi-cultural organization and succeed in the global business environment
•Must have strong trading/negotiating skills. Someone who is calculating, intuitive and creative with a record of taking full advantage of dynamic market conditions to optimize commercial opportunities
•A results-oriented performer, who sets aggressive personal goals and deadlines, and consistently meets or exceeds them
•A superior communicator, effective throughout all levels of the company, suppliers, customers and professional industry organizations
Required Education and Experience:
•Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, with a successful track record in assigned products trading, contract negotiations and significant product portfolio management responsibilities.
•Undergraduate degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, or sufficient experience to supply the required technical expertise
•International trading background, possibly starting with a producer but having transitioned into a trading organization
